The Excel team hold High Street fundraising event Friday 27th November for local charities Wycombe Youth Action and Scannappeal
Funds raised will go towards Scannappeal’s dedicated breast unit at Wycombe Hospital, and Wycombe Youth Action’s Drop-In which provides support and careers advice for young people aged 13-19 in the Wycombe area.
The Excel team will be on the High Street from 10.30am on Friday 27th November, braving the cold weather to speak with members of the public about the charities, and to ask for donations for these two important campaigns.
Jen Lambert, General Manager of Wycombe Youth Action, said: “We are delighted that Excel have chosen to support Wycombe Youth Action. Since launching our fundraising campaign in October 2015, we have seen a huge surge of support from members of the public, local businesses and the education sector which has made our team even more driven than ever to provide much needed services for young people in our town”.
WYA is a charity close to the heart of the Excel team. Lindsay Horler, Excel’s Marketing Director also works for the charity, and was a WYA Youth Council member back in 2003! Bethany Englefield, Business and Marketing Apprentice at Excel, was a regular young volunteer at WYA, holding her own show on the Charity’s Blink FM Youth Radio, and taking part in Youth Council up until 2014.
Bethany said: “having been involved with WYA for a huge part of my childhood, the Charity and its staff had a huge impact on me and helped me get to where I am today. I am proud to be able to volunteer in this way and give something back to the Charity that helped me so much.”
Wycombe Youth Action is a pillar of support for young people in the Wycombe District. Working with some of Wycombe’s most vulnerable young people, WYA provides unique services and creative projects to engage young people and improve their skills, confidence and self-esteem.
Excel will also be supporting local charity Scannappeal’s Digital and 3D Breast Screening Appeal for Wycombe Hospital, which aims to radically improve the diagnosis of early breast cancer to help the charity purchase advanced equipment and 3D technology.
Liz Trivett, Director of Scannappeal said: “We are so pleased that Excel are volunteering to support our Digital and 3D Breast Screening Appeal following the success of our pink October campaign during breast cancer awareness month".
Scannappeal have been a regular customer of Excel for several years. Excel’s Managing Director Ian Horler said: “this campaign has given us a chance to support a local charity and a customer of ours. Scannappeal does such extraordinary work in the community, and is an asset to Wycombe Hospital and to our local residents”.
Scannappeal raises funds to purchase life-saving equipment for Amersham, Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe and Community Hospitals which serve people living in Buckinghamshire and neighbouring parts of Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire. Since the Charity began in 1987, they have raised over £11m and funded equipment in every department in the hospitals they support.
Lindsay added: “If members of the public are in High Wycombe Town Centre on Friday 27th November, please come and say hello to Excel Office Supplies' staff members who will be on the High Street. Whether you simply greet us as you walk past, stop to receive a flyer or talk about one of these amazing charities, or are able to make a small donation, you will make our day!”.
